This project is being run by the Norah Fry Centre for Disability Studies with funding from Brigstow Institute. The original idea was conceived by Sue Porter, a huge campaigner for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, who passed away in January.

The Norah Fry Centre for Disability Studies (in memory of Dr Sue Porter) are setting up from scratch a choir comprised of volunteers (staff and students) from all equality and diversity groups to look at barriers they face within the University.

Community choirs have a long history of empowering members and giving a voice to diverse groups. Through the Sue Porter Equality, Diversity (EDI) and Inclusion complaints choir, we hope to take an embodied approach to the EDI agenda, enabling people to stand together to challenge discrimination and foster wider ownership in a meaningful way. This is an opportunity to think creatively and raise awareness of issues within a supportive community. We want to change the levels of engagement with equality and diversity to make it everyone’s business for everyone’s gain.
